How to Jailbreak the iPhone with 3.0 software update

You may have heard that the new 3.0 software update is out for the iPhone – giving you much needed updates like Horizontal keyboard and Multimedia messaging. And sure enough only a matter of days after it was released, the iPhone Dev Team (a group of hackers) have cracked the software so that you can “Jailbreak” your iphone. Jaulbreaking your iPhone allows you to install apps that are not approved by Apple and the iStore. Apple put in certain restrictions that this can get around. E.g. The first apps I got after jaulbreaking were a video camera “Cycorder” – and “MXtube” which lets you download youtube video’s to your iphone to watch any time.

www.iclarified.com have a great tutorial on exactly how to jailbreak your iPhone using “RedSn0w”  which is the software that does it for you.

When you have done this, I recommend installing a program called “Installous”. It lets you get almost any apps on the iStore for free! To do this, add “http://cydia.hackulo.us” as a new source through Cydia (A program you get when you Jailbreak) and then search for “Installous”.

New Mix – Sunday Morning Grooves

I usually post all my mixes on my other blog – but I thought I would share this one with everyone here too:

Sunday morning is one of my favourite times to mix. You’re tired and your head is it bit foggy from the night before, so putting on a few smooth sounds is the perfect way to open the day. This morning I pressed record – started off with some nice laid back tunes and let it flow from there. Leads on to come chunky percussions and funky basslines, perfect to waken you up for the day ahead…

Enjoy…

Coolest Simulator Ever – the X6

Now this is a toy I think every man would love. If you have a racing fame with a steering wheel, that’s cool. If you have it hooked up to a projectors, that is Really Cool! If you have one of those fancy racing seats then you are sub-zero – but this, this is just another step beyond:

It is a 6-Axis Motor/Flight/Rollercoaster simulator seat thingy that will being a new realm of excitement to Grand Tourismo or any other type racing simulation game.

Rearrange Taskbar buttons in XP

I have been wondering how to do this for literally years, and today I finally found a program that does it.

If like me (on my work pc anyway) you have a huge load of windows open at any one time – and also spend all day closing and opening new ones – things can get a bit messy. I have a very specific order I want them in, and if that gets messed up, I need to shut them all down and reopen in the right order which takes ages so I usually don’t bother.

Taskbar Shuffle is a program that fixes this problem – and allows you to reorder your taskbar and system tray icons!

Cool!

Electric Picnic 2009

Enough of all this recession bullshiiiiit – let’s concentrate on the FUN things coming up. It’s now (apparently) summer so tome to get out in a field with a tent and get messy with your mates to comer quality tunage. No better place t do it than Electric Picnic. I’ve been a good few times before and its always a fantastic weekend. The lineup does not exactly blow me away this year but I have been both Orbital and Basement Jazz before and they are usually great to watch.

Really to me it would not matter who is on, you have so much fun just being down there regardless of going to gig’s – its worth going no mater what.

Oxygen actually has a pretty good lineup but you would not catch me down there with the tent blazing pikeys!

Facebook adds 100 Million users in 8 Months!

Facebook is an incredible social phenomenon: It took close to 5 years to hit the magical number of 100 million users – but now it has doubled that to 200 million,  in just 8 months. Doubling your user base in under a year is a fantastic achievement – and it not rare for startups with just thousands of users – but doubling from a base of 100 Million is simply astonishing.

At 200 Million Users, Facebook is:

  • Twice as big as the largest number of people who have ever watched a Superbowl game
  • Twice as big as YouTube
  • Twice as big as Skype
  • Bigger than the number of people who own gaming consoles in their homes (190m)
  • Bigger than the population of all but 4 countries in the world. (Just passed Brazil, next in line is Indonesia and then the US.)
  • Twice as big as eBay.
  • Four times as big as the number of people in the US who run on treadmills.
  • It’s twice as big as the number of malnourished people in India. Another way to look at that is to imagine that half of the people on Facebook were malnourished and living in one place.

Facebook is the perfect example of Web 2.0 – and it it starting a revolution.

My Favourite Documentaries

mmoore

You may have noticed from many of my other posts of late, I’m really getting into watching documentaries at the moment. Maybe its a sign of getting older or something, but I’m quite enjoying actually learning something rather than being entertained by mindless dribble…

Here are a list of the my favourite movies right now, most of which I really think everyone should see…

Zeitgeist – Fantastic look into three aspects; Religion, 911 and World Banking raising some very interesting questions.
Loose Change – 911 Conspiracy Theroy
The Fog of War: Eleven Lessons from the Life of Robert S. McNamara – Lessons from the former US Secretary of state during the Cuban Missile Crisis.
The War on Democracy – How America pushes democracy like the bully of the world.
Islam – What the West needs to know – The foundations of the Muslim religion – very scary.
Occupation 101 – Award winning movie on the Israeli Palestine Crisis.
The Great Global Warming Swindle – Evidence against Global Warming theory.
Frontline – The Meth Epidemic – Drugs – The Meth Crisis sweeping America
American Meth – Ditto
Cocaine Cowboys – Growth of Cocaine use in America

In Pot We Trust – Benefits of Medical Marijuana
What we still don’t know about the cosmos – The history of the universe
Sicko – Michel Moore’s depiction of the state of the American Health System

The X-Games

tpastrana2backflip06I’m not a very big sports fan. Have zero interest in Rugby or Football, or pretty much any team based ball sports. They bore me. Even though I don’t follow it as closely as I’d like, Formula 1 would probably my favourite because there is just so much more to it than cars going around a track. Some people say its more about the  race of technology than it is a race between people. I generally prefer watching the moire extreme sports, and I really love the X-Games.

Ok I’m not really into skateboarding, it’s a bit basic for me, but I’ve always been into BMW and used to do a lot of Mountain Biking myself. Freestyle Motocross is something I’ve followed for years. The thing I like most about it is how the riders just keep on pushing the boundaries of what is thought possible, and doing more and more crazy and dangerous tricks – every few months someone does something completely new – and that rider who performs an trick first, gets to name it, So you end up with moves called the Can-Can, the Heart Attack or the Tsunami, and a whole host of others.

One trick however, simply takes my breath away. It was not long ago when people thought doing a backflip on a motorcycle was impossible, until Cary Heart did it a few years back. It was not long until all the other riders were pulling off backflip combinations and you could not win a competition without some upside down action. It opened a totally new realm of possibility.

But in 2007 Travis Pastrana did one, better, he did theDouble Backflip. The risks in not landing this trick properly are very serious injury or possible death – but he executed it perfectly and put himself into the history books. What is even more incredible is that someone else tried it on a Snowmobile!!!! Seriously, how crazy do you have to be?
