It always amazes me the amount of people who just go out and buy something without looking around to make sure they are getting the best value – either making sure to get a specific product at the very best price, or to get the best product within a set budget.

I am a fanatical bargain hunter online – its so easy there is no reason not to! I buy a lot of stuff online – party because you get the best value, but also because I’m just too lazy to actually get off my ass and go to a shop, find parking, wade through crowds and have to deal with some illiterate numskull in the store – that is if the item you want is even in stock!

So, I’d like to share some tips with you that if you are not familiar with, should prove very useful to you. Basically there are two main websites you need to know about for online bargain hunting – these are:Google Products & eBay.

eBay: A lot of people do not use eBay either cause they don’t understand it or cause they think its unsafe. Contrary to popular opinion, eBay is not just used by old people trying to sell the crappy contents of their garage or garden shed (although there is plenty of that too). I’ve found that a lot of the time I find things like electronics etc cheaper on eBay that any of the online stores.

Google products automatically searches hundreds of other online stores and finds out who is selling what you want for the best price. Very often it will tell you that eBay is the best place, but not always. eBay can often find you great deal from overseas such as Hong Kong etc – I have bought loads of camera equipment from HK and saved myself a fortune based on UK and Irish prices. (I’d recommend Kea Photo and Digital Rev if you are in the market for photographic gear.
